Workshop Description:
In this workshop we will explore Contact Improvisation as a practice of dancing with uncertainty. Through games, partner explorations, and collective tasks, we will work with dynamic strength, adaptability, creative problem-solving, and play.
Rather than relying on predetermined movement patterns, we will use sensation and biofeedback to notice what is happening in real time and allow that information to influence how we move. Participants will be invited to test the edges of their known movement patterns, respond to changing conditions, and build a relationship with the unfamiliar.
The workshop draws from Axis Syllabus, Fighting Monkey-inspired practices, somatic movement, and Contact Improvisation, with an emphasis on learning through experience rather than fixed forms or solutions.
All levels are welcome, though a personal movement background is recommended.
Cost: $30-50 per person
